How the GoExch9 exchange works: back, lay and liability
On an exchange you’re betting against other users, not against a house. Every price has two sides.
Back (the blue column) means you think the outcome will happen. Lay (the pink column) means you think it won’t, so you play the bookmaker’s role and pay out if it does. Odds are decimal, which means the number already includes your stake. If exchanges are new to you, start with how an exchange differs from a normal betting site.
Worked example 1: backing at 1.85
India v Australia, Match Odds. You back India for ₹1,000 at 1.85.
- India win: total return ₹1,000 × 1.85 = ₹1,850, so your profit is ₹850.
- India lose: you lose your ₹1,000 stake.
Worked example 2: laying at 1.85
Same match, but you lay India for ₹1,000 at 1.85. You’re accepting a backer’s ₹1,000.
- India lose: you win the backer’s ₹1,000.
- India win: you pay ₹1,000 × (1.85 − 1) = ₹850. That ₹850 is your liability.
Worked example 3: why high odds matter when you lay
Liability grows fast as odds rise. Lay a team for ₹2,000 at 3.50 and your liability is ₹2,000 × 2.50 = ₹5,000. The panel holds that ₹5,000 from your available balance the moment the bet is matched, so a ₹4,000 balance isn’t enough to place it. Back the same team for ₹2,000 at 3.50 instead and you risk ₹2,000 to return ₹7,000 (₹5,000 profit).
Quick formulas: back return = stake × odds. Back profit = stake × (odds − 1). Lay liability = stake × (odds − 1). Check the liability figure on the bet slip before you confirm.

Reading a Fancy line properly
The No/Yes gap is the part new users misread most often on our support chat. With a line of 52/54, No wins only if the team finishes the session on 51 or fewer, and Yes wins only on 54 or more. If they end on exactly 52 or 53, both No and Yes lose. The rate under each number (often 100) is the payout per ₹100, so a Yes at rate 90 on ₹500 would pay ₹450. Session lines move ball by ball and close at the end of the over they’re tied to.

Matched, unmatched and suspended bets
An exchange bet only counts once someone takes the other side. If India’s best back price is 2.00 and you ask for 2.10, your bet sits in the unmatched list until another user lays at 2.10. You can cancel an unmatched bet at any time, and the stake goes straight back to your balance. A matched bet can’t be cancelled.
Markets are suspended whenever something big happens: a wicket, a DRS review, a rain break or a run-out check. The prices grey out, new bets are blocked, and unmatched bets may be cancelled. Your matched bets aren’t affected. When the market reopens, odds can be very different from a minute earlier, so look at the new price before re-entering.
- Bet showing under “Unmatched”? Your price is better than anyone is offering right now.
- Balance lower than expected? Check for open lay bets, because their liability is on hold.
- Bet rejected during play? The odds probably moved while you were tapping. Refresh and try again.
Football, tennis and other sports
Cricket takes up most of the panel, but the same exchange runs on other sports. Football Match Odds has three outcomes (home, draw, away), so a lay on the home side wins if the match ends in either a draw or an away win. Tennis Match Odds has two players and no draw, which makes it read much like a cricket Toss market. The back, lay and liability maths above works exactly the same way on every sport. Each table shows its minimum and maximum stake before you join. Casino results are settled straight to the same balance you use for cricket.
